True Spring Color Palette

Short answer

True Spring (also called Warm Spring) is one of the 12 seasons in seasonal color analysis. True Spring is the warmest spring: golden, lively and clear. Warm, saturated-but-fresh colors like coral, marigold and turquoise sit well, while cool, icy or greyed shades can drain warmth.

01 — Character

True Spring at a glance

True Spring is warmth with the lights on. Skin often has a golden or peachy cast, hair tends to carry golden, copper or strawberry tones, and eyes may show warm flecks. Colors that are both warm and clean — coral, marigold, turquoise, kelly green — echo that glow, while greyed or icy shades can make the face look dull.

Contrast

Contrast is medium. Pair a warm neutral like camel or cream with one saturated color rather than stacking several brights at once.

Deciding trait

Warm

Temperature decides first. True Spring is the purest warm version of Spring, with no lean toward a neighboring family — which is why it’s also called Warm Spring.

10 — Common misreads

Four things that make True Spring look like something else

01

Hair dye

Going ash brown or cool black mutes your natural warmth, so cooler drapes can look better than they would with your own color.

02

Lighting

Warm indoor bulbs flatter almost everyone in coral. Compare in daylight against a cooler pink to be sure the warmth is coming from you, not the lamp.

03

Tanning

A deep tan can make True Spring look like True Autumn, and rich rusts suddenly seem to work. Re-check clear turquoise and coral once the tan fades.

04

Makeup

A pink-toned foundation or mauve lip can neutralize your warmth during a test. Go bare-faced, or switch to peach and coral.

11 — Colors to skip near the face

What may look heavy near your face

Icy pastels, blue-grey and stark black-and-white can look harsh.

If you love one of these, wear it below the waist, or put a palette color at the neckline.

Looking “tired” in a color is a visual effect of contrast and reflected light, not a health signal.
