Deep Autumn Color Palette

Short answer

Deep Autumn (also called Dark Autumn) is one of the 12 seasons in seasonal color analysis. Deep Autumn pairs high depth with a warm lean. Rich, dark colors — oxblood, deep teal, forest, bronze — look grounded, while pale pastels can wash out against deep features.

01 — Character

Deep Autumn at a glance

Deep Autumn is autumn at dusk: deep, warm-leaning and rich. Hair and eyes are usually dark — espresso, deep auburn, dark brown — and skin of any depth has a warm or warm-neutral cast. Dark, saturated earth and jewel colors such as oxblood, deep teal and forest match that depth, while pale pastels can look borrowed.

Contrast

Contrast is medium-high. Anchor outfits with espresso or dark olive, then add one rich color near the face.

Deciding trait

Deep

Depth decides first. Deep Autumn sits at the deep end of the scale, so colors need enough weight to match dark hair and eyes; its Autumn roots tip the palette warm.

10 — Common misreads

Four things that make Deep Autumn look like something else

01

Hair dye

Cool blue-black dye can make Deep Autumn look like Deep Winter. With your natural hair, compare black and espresso at the collar.

02

Lighting

Low light makes deep colors merge into one. Test oxblood against burgundy in daylight, where the warm–cool difference is visible.

03

Tanning

A tan deepens the warm cast and makes True Autumn and Deep Autumn harder to separate; the depth of your hair and eyes usually tips it.

04

Makeup

A bare face next to very dark drapes can look shadowed — that doesn’t mean the color is wrong. A warm berry lip often shows what the drape is really doing.

11 — Colors to skip near the face

What may look heavy near your face

Pale pastels and icy colors can wash out against deep features.

If you love one of these, wear it below the waist, or put a palette color at the neckline.

Looking “tired” in a color is a visual effect of contrast and reflected light, not a health signal.
